The head of the National Police's regional department, Yuriy Kroshko, said the attacker had threatened hostages with a firearm and an explosive device. Ukraine's Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said the alleged hijacker had identified himself as Maksym Plokhoy. The suspect also claimed he had planted another explosive in an unspecified crowded location in Lutsk and said he would set off that bomb if his demands were not met. Le forze dell’ordine hanno arrestato il sequestratore che questa mattina aveva preso in ostaggio i passeggeri di un autobus a Lutsk. L’uomo – entrato sul bus con un’arma automatica, una granata e due bombe – aveva chiesto a leader religiosi, ministri, presidenti di tribunale, procure e parlamentari di registrare dei video su YouTube in cui dichiaravano di essere terroristi legalizzati. L’assalitore è un pregiudicato ucraino nato in Russia di 44 anni: si chiamerebbe Maksim Krivosh e avrebbe alle spalle due condanne e dieci anni dietro le sbarre «per una serie di gravi reati», tra cui frode e possesso illegale di armi. Poco prima dell’arresto aveva rilasciato tre ostaggi, dopo che il presidente ucraino Volodymyr Zelensky aveva esaudito la sua richiesta: pubblicare su Facebook un breve video in cui invitava a guardare il documentario Earthlings sullo sfruttamento degli animali narrato da Joaquin Phoenix. L’uomo aveva minacciato di far esplodere degli ordigni se le sue richieste non fossero state soddisfatte.
